What Are Beavers?

Beaver Scouts are the youngest section of the scouting family and are aged between 6 and 8 years old. Children can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their 6th birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between 7½ and 8½ years old.
Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.
Beavers join the older sections when they come camping on our annual Group Camp, parents get to join in too. There is sometimes an opportunity for them to stay for a night on Beaver Sleepovers. This is an exciting experience for them and gives them a taste of the camping activities that feature quite strongly in the programmes for cubs and scouts.
